The Queen and The Princess Royal celebrate the centenary of the Women's Royal Naval Service and the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps Featured

The Queen and The Princess Royal have attended a reception to mark the centenary of the Women's Royal Navy Service (WRNS) and the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC).
During the reception Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness met a number of women who have served or are serving; including Betty Webb, 94, who worked at Bletchley Park and Joan De-Vall, 92, and Barbara Danter,90, who served in Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS).

The Queen is Patron of the WRAC Association which incorporates the WAAC and the ATS. In 1945, aged 18, Her Majesty joined the ATS and became the first female member of The Royal Family to joined the Armed Services as full-time active member.

The Princess Royal has a long connection with the WRNS, she is Patron of WRNS Benevolent Trust, the Association of Wrens and the WRNS100 Project. Her Royal Highness is also Admiral and Chief Commandant for Women in Royal Navy.
